Sustainability – Motion Impossible’s commitment to Being Earth Conscious.

Motion Impossible was founded from a wildlife cameraman’s dream to capture stunning footage using cutting edge technology bringing movement to previously static shots. At the very heart of that is the desire to protect and preserve the wonderful world around us.

As we continue to grow as a company, it has become increasingly important to put sustainability at the core of our business and its actions. As with any business like ours, we require resources that will take its toll on the fragile balance we have with our climate and earth.

HRH Prince Charles has recently announced the “TERRA CARTA”

“The ‘Terra Carta’ offers the basis of a recovery plan that puts Nature, People and Planet at the heart of global value creation – one that will harness the precious, irreplaceable power of Nature combined with the transformative innovation and resources of the private sector. – HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES

A bold charter that puts sustainability at the heart of the private sector. Which has prompted us to take a long hard look at how we can improve our sustainable footprint on earth.

Investing in nature whilst investing in our company, the two should go hand in hand.

Since the very beginning we have strived to think about ways to lessen our impact. Predominantly our systems are made to have a long lifecycle. They are not a “throwaway” item with a limited shelf life. They are built with evolution in mind. The very nature of systems like the M-SERIES and the AGITO mean they have to continually adapt and be upgraded due the continuous development of technology around us. Our aim is that you won’t need a new system every time there is a new development, you would just upgrade the one you already have. A Longer life span means less use of resources.

One of the ways we would like to improve the sustainability of our systems is to develop a better way to charge our batteries and we encourage everyone to responsibly dispose of their batteries when they reach the end of their life.

At home (MI HQ), we are sticklers for keeping our impact low. Everything that can be recycled is. The office and workshop areas are monitored so we can continue to keep our energy output low and we are constantly looking at different ways to be more environmentally efficient.

It has always been our aim to limit or eradicate the use of plastic in our packaging. This is a no brainer, everyone knows the damage plastic does to our planet. Scientists have even discovered plastic in shrimp found at the bottom of the Mariana trench, that is 7 miles down at the very bottom of our ocean! The cases we use to ship and protect our systems are constantly reused, they also effectively become the safe place to keep and travel with your AGITO.

We are regularly thinking of new ways to reduce any paperwork or information packs needed and have recently come up with some new innovative ideas to support this, watch this space.

There are still many ways we can be better, and we will continue to push and improve how we function sustainably in all areas.

Bringing the best and newest in motion technology to market takes a lot of work and sustainable practices are not always the first considerations, however during these R&D stages we will look at taking steps to improve this. Taking those values right through production to dispatch and shipping, hoping to make positive changes in all aspects of the business. Including researching avenues of bringing some if not all of our manufacturing closer to home and striving to use sustainable alternatives wherever possible.

As was said at the beginning of this statement it is a hard task in this line of work to be completely sustainable, especially when you add in the wider elements of the business that requires a lot of travel. One of the ways we wish to balance this is by helping restore rainforests around the world. Every sale would mean you have helped us to plant new trees through projects set up by Tree Nation. Helping us to create our very own MI forest, and thus reduce carbon emissions.

This will be an ongoing Journey as not all will be accomplished overnight. However, we hope that by setting the above goals out we will be accountable for our actions and join a growing force in the private sector to be earth conscious.

Rebuild, Redesign, Reinvigorate and Rebalance our world!
