A decade of innovation, a future of possibility.
Our story is one of curiosity, determination and an unrelenting drive to push the boundaries of filmmaking technology. What began as a bold idea in a West Country (UK) shed has grown into a company redefining camera movement and stabilisation solutions worldwide. It all started with co-founder and CEO Rob Drewett, whose unconventional path – from greenkeeper to tree surgeon to underwater wildlife cameraman – sparked a vision: to capture movement with the same fluidity he experienced beneath the waves. Partnering with product design engineer Andy Nancollis (now co-founder and COO), they set out to bring that same freedom to topside cinematography. Their breakthrough came in 2014 with BuggyCam, a stabilised camera on an RC vehicle, which caught the industry’s attention when it tracked cheetahs at full sprint for the BBC’s Big Cats.
BuggyCam evolved into Mantis (later M-Series), proving just as effective on the cricket pitch as it was on the African plains. It delivered high-speed tracking for live sports while also enabling smooth, controlled movement for the emerging VR/360 market. But filmmakers needed more than a remote-controlled platform – they needed a system that could adapt to any production environment. In 2019, that vision became a reality with AGITO: the world’s first modular robotic dolly system. Designed with interchangeable drive-ends – Sports, Trax, MagTrax and SkyTrax – it combines multiple traditional rigs – rickshaws, jibs, dollies, Steadicams, sliders and tracking vehicles – into one versatile and easy-to-use platform. Affectionately dubbed the “Swiss Army knife for filmmakers,” AGITO quickly set a new standard for camera mobility.
Then, in 2024, AGITO’s success led to the development of AGITO Gen 2, an evolution that improved on its Core and Master Controller to enhance intelligence, steering, connectivity and control – giving filmmakers even greater precision and responsiveness when working with the system’s drive-ends and accessories. That same year also saw the launch of AGITO Cine, a larger, more robust version built to handle heavier camera payloads all while maintaining AGITO’s trademark agility for the demands of high-end film & TV. But we didn’t stop there. We also introduced ReACTIVE, the world’s first 6DOF camera stabiliser, offering a no-compromise, minimal-parallax solution for plate shot capture in VFX and traditional compositing workflows.
And so, that concludes our About Us page – for now. At Motion Impossible, we’ve always been about challenging the status quo and, a decade on, our mission remains the same: to push the boundaries of filmmaking. From a garage-built prototype to an industry essential, we’re proof of what’s possible when big ideas meet technology. And we’re only just getting started.
