Job Ad – Robotics Software and Control Engineer

Motion Impossible designs and manufactures robotic camera motion systems that are used around the World by professional video production companies to capture high quality stabilised footage for applications including feature films, live sports, music concerts, awards ceremonies, and nature documentaries. 

Founded in 2015, and based in Yate, near Bristol, we are a privately owned business with approximately 25 employees where everyone is treated as an individual. A high proportion of our sales revenue is invested into R&D as we seek to improve the way professional video is captured. 

We are looking for a graduate engineer to join our R&D team on an initial 6 month placement to help us develop future products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about engineering, and enjoy solving problems as part of a small multi-disciplinary team. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates that enjoying involvement in projects from initial conception through to a finished design. 

Essential requirements and skills 

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or Science 
  • Prior experience of robotics, mechatronics, and motion control systems 
  • A mathematical understanding of control algorithms 
  • Embedded coding experience for real-time applications. 
  • Practical experience and happy to use mechanical and electrical engineering tools 

Additional desirable skills 

  • Experience of developing simple Windows and/or Mac based desktop applications 
  • Interest in film, TV, and live broadcast technology 
  • Willingness to undertake occasional overseas travel to work with customers. 

Benefits:

  • Salary £30,000 to £32,000 depending upon experience.
  • 37.5 hour working week with a half day on Fridays.
  • FTE: 25 days holiday.
